pull up sweethearts candy box mini tutorial

This past week I put together some fun Valentine's Day card designs for a card night at my mother-in-law's (take a peek at those I shared HERE). We also thought it would be fun to add a treat holder project that the guests could make in addition to the cards.

When I first started getting into Stampin' Up! as a customer (5 years ago!) I remember making these cute candy heart box pull up treats. I looked all over for the one I had made and realized I didn't hold onto it long enough and then I tried to find something similar online on how to put one together, but never found one, so I put myself to work!

I thought I would do a quick mini tutorial for my blog readers in case you were interested in making these, too! They are super easy, affordable, and a fun little treat to give to your co-workers, friends, teachers, or children for a Valentine's Day treat!

Step 1
Start with a piece of cardstock cut 6-3/4" x 3-1/4".
Choose a coordinating piece of DSP and cut it 6" x 1-1/2".

Step 2
Score your piece of cardstock at 5/8", 3", 3-3/4", and 6-1/8". Crease folds with your bone folder.

Step 3
Wrap a 15" piece of ribbon around the length of the box and then double knot on the top. Snip the tops of the ribbon in a "V" for a finished look.

Step 4
Place a piece of sticky strip on one end of the scored cardstock. You will not want to adhere anything to the box, so that it will be able to slide up and down.

 Step 5
Wrap cardstock around box fairly tightly and adhere together on the side. Remember, it will just be cardstock to cardstock.

Step 6
Starting in the back, wrap your DSP around the middle of the candy box. (Note: I cut the DSP strip only 6" in length to maximize the full 12x12 sheet of DSP. However, it does not wrap completely around the box. You can make it longer if you wish, but since I was planning to cover the seam anyway, it didn't matter to me!)

Step 7
Decorate to your heart's desire!

To open, pull on the ribbon and the candy will slide right out!
