Each month, I encourage my stamp club members to get out their stamping supplies and I give them a sketch to play with. Those who played with the sketch then bring their card to share with us at the following stamp club. Here is the sketch from last month found on the Clean & Simple Stamping blog.

This was my sketch (also showcased as last week's Paper Players card design).

the paper players - sketch challenge (new products sneak peek!)

This week at the Paper Players Ann has created a fun sketch for us! You are free to make it as clean and simple as you would like or make it as complex as you want it to be!

As is mostly my style, I decided to stick with clean and simple. And, although this sketch was a bit tough for me to come up with something I liked, I am pleased with how it all came together in the end. As you can tell, I went outside the box (literally) and chose to place the sentiment on the side of the card instead of using a punch to contain it as shown in the sketch above.

I just love all of the fun, happy colors in this card! Do you recognize the stamp set? What about the designer series paper? It's a sneak peek of an upcoming promotion beginning in April. The stamp set is called Bright Blossoms and the paper is called Summer Smooches. There are more fun sneak peeks coming up and will soon be available to purchase beginning April 1st!

Stamp Set: Bright Blossoms, Perfect Words
Paper:
Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Summer Smooches DSP
Ink: markers - Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red
Accessories: Dimensionals, Island Indigo 3/8" Ruffled ribbon, 1/8" Daffodil Delight Taffeta ribbon, Rhinestone Accents

Tools: Scallop Trim Border punch

I hope you will come on by the Paper Players to check out the great inspiration from the design team and to join in the fun! This challenge will end on Friday, March 30 at noon (PST).

march card making night - consider it CASEd

I held my monthly card making night last Thursday! It was a fun group of 16 stampers. I am really enjoying connecting with new stampers, as well as seeing my "regulars" each month. What a wonderful way to inspire...I love this job!!

Because I had a bit of a busy week, I decided that my cards would be cards I had saved to CASE (Copy And Share Everything). I changed each of them slightly in my own little way, but the layout and idea were inspired by other stampers I admire!

Easter Add-On Project
Each month I have an "add on" 3D project that is optional for anyone interested in making something a little extra beyond just the cards. I try to make something that coincides with an upcoming holiday...this month it was an Easter treat! I have seen these cute framelit treat holders all over since many demos came back from Leadership. Angela Kennedy Juda at Chic N Scratch Live! has a great video tutorial. I was inspired by the chick design with the flower by Julie Ramos after seeing her sample on Stampin' Connection (a Stampin' Up! demo only website).

Stamp Set: Everybunny, Teeny Tiny Wishes (Happy Easter)
Paper:
Whisper White, So Saffron, Pool Party, Island Indigo In-Colors DSP (polka dots)
Ink: Black Stazon, markers w/blender pen (to color in the chick)
Accessories: Dimensionals, Rhinestone Accents

Tools: Word Window punch, Modern Label punch, 1-3/4" Circle punch, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle punch, Boho Blossoms punch, Itty Bitty punch (smallest flower), Labels Framelits (largest size), Big Shot

the paper players - clean & simple with buttons! (pp87)

Hi Stampers! Sorry I have been lacking in posting the last few days! I had a full plate this week, so not much to time to PLAY in my stamp room! I did hold my monthly card making night last Thursday (such a great group of stampers!), so I will post those cards soon!

Today it's time for a fun new Paper Players challenge! Nance has come up with a fun twist on a clean and simple challenge featuring buttons! Buttons are such a great way to add some pizzazz to a card and you must go check out the cards the design team came up with...they are fabulous!

As the challenge is clean and simple this week, I kept my card just that trying to keep lots of white space. I used a sketch from the Clean & Simple Stamping blog from a couple of months ago. With the button aspect of the card, I just couldn't wait to pull out my Button Buddies stamp set. I don't use this set often enough! I just love the colors Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive together, so I kept with just these two colors to make everything pop off the white!

I decided I wanted more dimension to each of the flowers, so I cut out each layer and popped them up with Dimensionals. This definitely isn't a card I would have at one of my events for my stampers to create, but it's definitely a fun one to give for the wow factor!

Stamp Set: Button Buddies, Perfect Words (hostess exclusive set)
Paper:
Whisper White, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, markers - Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry
Accessories: Brights Buttons (Old Olive & Rich Razzleberry), Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots

Tools: Paper Snips

Come on over to The Paper Players to check out the rest of the design team and to join in the fun!!

the paper players - bright & cheery color combo (pp86)

It's Sunday...time for a new Paper Players sketch and this week you get to play with colors. The fabulous Lesley has put together some of my most favorite colors right now! Look at this color combo - I love it!

When I originally saw this combo, I instantly thought Easter! So, I grabbed my "Everybunny" stamp set and went to work. Using the blender pen and markers, I made the colors softer on the bunny. Adding the rhinestones on the flowers and popping them up with a Dimensional, helped give the card a little bit of extra dimension. Rounding the two corners on the right softened up the edges a bit to complete the card. I had simple in mind to let the colors do the talking!

Stamp Set: Everybunny, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper:
Crumb Cake, Wisteria Wonder, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party DSP (polka dots)
Ink: Black Stazon, markers - Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz
Accessories: Rhinestone Accents, Dimensionals

Tools: Scallop Trim Edge punch, Triple Layer Blossom punch, 3/16" Corner Rounder punch

Grab a little Wisteria Wonder, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, and Crumb Cake (or any colors that are similar in shade if you don't have Stampin' Up! card stock) and play along! Head on over to the Paper Players and join in the fun...and get inspired by the rest of the design team to help you get started!

card making night - a little taste of Easter

I held another card making night at my mother-in-law's on Tuesday night. It was a smaller group, which meant a little more one on one time with the ladies and I know that many of them really appreciated that. Many of those who attend these card making nights do not have much stamping experience so I was glad to lend a hand in passing along some helpful hints. As much as I love and appreciate a large group, having a smaller group is great, too...just like my last card night.

Since Easter is just around the corner, I put together a couple of Easter cards for the ladies to create. I really wanted to use the watercolor pencils and blender pens and I was very thankful for a smaller group because I was able to do a mini-tutorial with some of them to show them how effective the blender pen can be, especially with creating shadows. It was an 00h-aah moment for many of them...so fun to see them excited! :) I have A LOT more to learn about water coloring, but I really do enjoy it!

I am soooooo glad I decided to order the Everybunny stamp set. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but I love this set! I can't wait to make more cards with it!

Stamp Set: Everybunny
Paper: Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Very Vanilla, Everyday Enchantment DSP (SAB exclusive)
Ink: Black Stazon
Accessories: Rhinestone Accents, Stampin' Diemensionals, Watercolor Pencils, Blender Pen, 3/8" Calypso Coral Ruffled ribbon
Tools: N/A

I have been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator for three years and this is the FIRST time I have used Basic Gray! I wanted to try and go outside of the box and use some different color combos and I really wanted to use the Twitterpated DSP for my second Easter card, so I went with Basic Gray for the card base. On the inside of the card I ended up putting a white layer so that you are able to see the writing. I don't have many Easter stamp sets, so I worked with the flower and paper to pull together something "Easter-y". I had other sentiments there to choose from if the ladies didn't want to do an Easter card.

Stamp Set: Delightful Dozen
Paper: Basic Gray, Blushing Bride, Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Twitterpated DSP
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze (sponging around the white where the sentiment is)
Accessories: Pearl Accents, Stampin' Diemensionals
Tools: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots Textured Embossing Folder, Blossoms punch, 1" Circle punch, Boho Blossoms punch, Eyelet Border punch

For the last card I decided to double up on a card I had created for a workshop I held at a friend's house a couple of weeks ago. I was happy with the design and I figured these ladies would love the teacup idea, so I made up some more card kits. Plus, I just love the combo of Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder (thanks to my Color Coach!) This card was inspired by one of my own creations that I had once made for a color challenge, but as you will see I decided to go a little more simple with this one.

Stamp Set: Tiny Teacup (single stamp), various sentiments
Paper: Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder DSP (polka dots)
Ink: Elegant Eggplant, marker - Wisteria Wonder
Accessories: 1/4" Elegant Eggplant Grosgrain ribbon, Stampin' Diemensionals
Tools: 1-1/4" Circle punch, 1-3/8" Circle punch, Two-Step Owl punch (for the heart)

the paper players - spring has sprung!

For those of you who follow my blog, you may have read the post last week where I had decided to apply for The Paper Players design team. They were having a design team call looking for two designers for the next three months and I thought I would just give it a shot and apply since I have been so inspired by sketches from The Paper Players on many occasions!

Well...guess what?!

I was chosen! I can't even tell you how excited I was to find this out! The ladies have been so sweet in welcoming me to their team for the next three months and it is a complete HONOR to be "stamping" among these talented paper-artists. I have truly been inspired by these ladies and it is such a privilege for me to be a part of The Paper Players...even if it's just for a few months. This really couldn't have come at a better time. I think I really needed that boost of confidence. What a nice feeling to know that my hard work in putting together my "little work of art" is noticed. I also look forward to committing my time in visiting more blogs of those participating in the weekly challenges, passing along the encouragement I have been given. Thanks again, ladies!!

And, now it's time for the first sketch as being part of the design team. This week it is a theme challenge by Jaydee: Spring Has Sprung! The design possibilities are endless with this theme and that's something I loved about it. And, I am sooooooooo ready for Spring!

When I heard the word Spring, I instantly thought of birds and flowers! I decided to use one of my favorite sets lately (Best of Everything). I wanted the card to be bright and cheery and I knew Melon Mambo would be that perfect color! The Designer Series Paper is called Cheerful Treat (hostess exclusive). I definitely don't use it often enough, so this was the perfect card for it.

Stamp Set: Best of Everything, Pursuit of Happiness
Paper:
Whisper White, Lucky Limeade, Concord Crush, Cheerful Treat DSP
Ink: Melon Mambo, Concord Crush, Lucky Limeade
Accessories: Rhinestone Accents, 3/8" Lucky Limeade Ruffled ribbon, Dimensionals

Tools: 2-1/2" Circle punch, Dotted Scallop Ribbon punch, Paper Snips

Take the time this week to create a Spring-themed card and join in the fun by linking up at The Paper Players! Head on over now to see what the other designers have in store for you this week and get inspired!

sketch inspiration from my stamp club members

At our first Stamp Club meeting in January, I encouraged each of the ladies to get out their stamping supplies sometime during the month before our next meeting to create a card using the following sketch. I found this sketch on the Clean & Simple Stamping blog which I found via Jen's blog Simple & Sincere (click on the link to see her card).

Here was my sample I created for some inspiration...

Stamp Set:
Bold Blossom, retired sentiment
Paper:
Whisper White
Ink: Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie (Brights Collection)
Accessories: Pearl Accents, 1/4" Daffodil Delight Grosgrain ribbon

Tools: 1-3/8" Circle punch

Here are the cards from many of my stamp club members who brought some inspiration of their own...

This last card is very close to the original one I found. My mom made this for me for my birthday! She saw that I had pinned it on Pinterest. ;)
